The Past
Early 2017 The Honest Agency opened it’s own education centre under a sister company Atom Club. We took on a lease of 2 commercial units including a derelict warehouse, with the aim of transforming it into a unique STEM education centre.
The centre comprised of Dorset’s only fixed planetarium, a 6m green-screen, engineering zone, 3D printers, dinosaur zone, IT suite, robot combat arena, educational shop, space zone and even a reptile & bug zone!
The Present
Honest Tech Group are working hard to re-structure the education centre, allowing it to reopen in a cut-down format. Some zones will no longer to exist, but we’re looking forward to the return of the engineering zone, Robot Combat Arena and IT suite in the near future. We’re pleased to announce that the 3D printers will be returning!
The centre is currently closed while work is carried out. Our current target is to re-open the centre towards the end of 2019.
While the centre is closed, the team are all working remote, or from the Honest Agency’s old office in Marnhull, Dorset.
The Future
The launch of Dorset Tech has been very successful and we’re on target for our exciting growth plans. Manchester Tech will open late 2019 and we’re in talks with another agency in a very exciting area looking to become part of the group.
Our current lease on the education centre ends in May 2020. Early 2020 we will begin moving the education centre to a new location in Dorset that benefits from better transport solutions. The majority of the team will remain remote, but a new local team will be built. The new education centre will have a dedicated makerspace, an expanded 3D printing service and a smaller, but more flexible robot combat arena.
