Much like the human body, a business is made of lots of small parts that work together to form a balanced workflow. However, one break in this flow and everything else can suffer, from customer services to resource processing. If your marketing team isn't pulling their weight then the sales team falls because of it. Each part of your business must be maintained and looked after, this also means each and every person plays a unique role in how your business is maintained.
Your customers keep your business alive by purchasing your products or services, in another sense, this is your income. Your customers breathe life into your business by using your products or services and asking questions. Customer are the lifeforce of any business and without them nothing would get done, and nor would their be anyone for things to be done for.
This is the reason your business does what it does, why everything keeps going at their jobs one day at a time. Much like humans need a goal to feel a reason to do something a business must also have something that their trying to achieve. The reason you do things is also responsible for getting resources to the other parts of the body ensuring that everyone has enough resources to carry out their job.
Unlike our actual bodies, a business doesn't need oxygen to survive, instead, it needs money and resources. In your body, the heart pumps blood around that contains oxygen and nutrients that need to be delivered to the different parts of your body, Each section of your business needs recources to work, whether it be people or money.
Much like in the human body the brain tells each part what it needs to do, inside of a business this would be the same as having a board of directors each in control of their individual parts of the business, ensuring everyone and everything has enough resources and jobs to continue maintaining and looking after the body of the business.
The nervous system is like a web of communication networks and is responsible for carrying the demands of the brain (the board of management) to each part. Inside a business, this could be communication inside the office, the PA who communicates information to the others or if your team works outside of the office, then it could be the communication services that you use to manage your tasks and team communication, e.g. Slack, Discord, ClickUp, Zoho Cliq.
In the human body, the stomach is responsible for breaking down resources to use them for something else. In business, this is like the breaking down of ideas and processes to make new refreshes and refined ideas to help boost your business's production or customer count.
Every business needs a structure. and so too does our body. Our skeleton is the thing responsible for keeping us in one shape, without it we would be a puddle on the floor. Similarly, your business needs a good sturdy structure in order to keep everything working properly. A good structure means a good foundation for the other parts of your business to thrive apon.
In your body your muscles are what allow you to move, these are the driving force and represent your workforce. As you know our muscles need oxygen but in this case, your workforce needs resources, like, time, data, money, systems and assets. If the workforce has what they need then they can do their job and nothing will go wrong.
Your eyes guide your body much like how your vision guides your business. Your vision is the end goal, where you see yourself in 2-4 years time. Having an idea on what the future could look like is a great way to keep your team and yourself motivated.
These represent the actionable parts of your business, such as your sales team grasping opportunities and logistics or delivery systems. These parts of your business body help execute the important tasks that lead to something happening whether it be sales or a marketing collaboration, execution is a key part of any business.
Remember that each and every part of your business effects another part so in order for it to be in tip top shape everything must be. Your business is a body, with each and every part working together in harmony and you need to look after it.
