In this month of Taekwondo, we spent weeks preparing for our grading where -if we passed - would be getting our blue stripes (5th cup). This week was full to the brim of doing lessons as if we were grading, running through all the patterns, and doing linework and theory. This month would be people's final chance to improve and learn things before their grading.
Week one was mainly spent on online work, which is the process of performing certain moves in a line. It can range from basic sitting stance punches (horse stance) to a combination of kicks and punches.
The next week was spent mainly on theory work. This involved many games involving needing to know the theory in order to progress the game.
These are the questions that I have to answer in order to pass, the examiners can ask us three of these questions.
This week was spent running through and perfecting our patterns including the training exercises. This was done by splitting the class up so each group of 3 had a blackbelt to help tweak things:
This week was the last one before the grading so we spent both lessons treating everything like a grading from identification, linework, padwork, patters, and sparing. and theory.
This grading has been the hardest one yet and I expect them to only get harder. This grading compiled everything that we have previously done including all the new content, this grading included:
You'll be glad to know that I passed my grade with an A* and am now officially a blur stripe, I've already learnt my new pattern and am working on learning the theory and 2-steps. That is all for now so stay tuned, stay super, and I'll see you next time!
